Faith-charged action (śraddhā + upavāsa + dāna) becomes a conduit for divine grace that culminates in transcendental attainment.
Observe periodic fasting with devotion; conclude with feeding/charity (especially to learned/virtuous recipients) using sattvic, simple food; dedicate the merit to liberation.
On Paśupati’s tithi, worship with faith, fast first, then feed brāhmaṇas with wheat-based food.
Proper observance pleases the deity and results in being led to an unsurpassed abode; neglect forfeits the promised salvific fruit.
Deity’s satisfaction and guidance to anuttama-sthāna (highest/unsurpassed abode).
33.33.28 (tithi establishment)
It reflects a Purāṇic synthesis of devotional worship with socially codified ritual ethics—fasting (upoṣa) and the feeding of brāhmaṇas—paralleling Dharmaśāstra norms while embedding them in a soteriological promise (attainment of anuttama-sthāna).
No specific sacred geography is named in this verse; it refers instead to a ritual time-marker (tithi) and a merit-bearing act (dvija-bhojana).
To combine disciplined self-restraint (fasting) with charitable hospitality (feeding qualified recipients), presenting ethical giving as integral to the ritual program and its stated spiritual outcome.
