Praise of the Sacred Geography of Mathurā
मुकुटात्तस्य वै सूर्यॊ ददौ चिन्तामणिं ततः ॥ चिन्तामणिं समासाद्य पातालमगमद्बलिः ॥
mukuṭāttasya vai sūryo dadau cintāmaṇiṃ tataḥ || cintāmaṇiṃ samāsādya pātālam agamad baliḥ ||
Dari mahkotanya, Sūrya sesungguhnya mengurniakan Cintāmaṇi, permata pemenuh hajat. Setelah memperoleh Cintāmaṇi, Bali pun turun ke Pātāla.

It preserves a Purāṇic narrative motif linking divine gifts (cintāmaṇi) with the figure of Bali and the netherworld (Pātāla), illustrating how tīrtha discourse often embeds mythic memory within geographical praise.
Pātāla is a cosmographic realm (netherworld) rather than a single terrestrial site; in Purāṇic geography it functions as a structured underworld domain.
Implicitly, the verse frames divine bestowal and rightful reception of gifts within a broader moral universe where actions lead to specific realms and destinies.
