I set in order for thee the in-breath and the out-breath—old age, death, long life, and welfare. All Yama’s messengers, roaming, sent forth by Vaivasvata, these I drive away and bar off.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (often transmitted under Atharvan/Angiras lineages for āyuṣya and mrtyu-nivāraṇa material; specific r̥ṣi attribution varies by anukramaṇī).
Devata: Āyuḥ/Prāṇa (vital powers) with implicit opposition to Yama and his dūtas.
Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh tendency (requires pada-count verification in a metrical anukramaṇī).
Primary: vira
Secondary: shanta
