Mantra 1
अ॒यमु॑ त्वा विचर्षणे॒ जनी॑रिवा॒भि संवृ॑तः । प्र सोम॑ इन्द्र सर्पतु
यह सोम, इंद्र, तुम्हे ऐसे लपेट लेता है जैसे कोई औरत अपने आदमी को गले लगाती है। इंद्र, तुम्हारी नज़र सब पर है। सोम अब तुम्हारे अंदर घुस जाए, तुम्हारे पास पहुंचे।

तु॒वि॒ग्रीवो॑ व॒पोद॑रः सुबा॒हुरन्ध॑सो॒ मदे॑ । इन्द्रो॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ जिघ्नते
जब इंद्र सोम पीता है, वो बहुत ताकतवाला हो जाता है। उसकी गर्दन चौड़ी, पेट भरा, हाथ मज़बूत। उसकी ताकत देख के दुश्मन डर जाते हैं। इंद्र दुश्मनों को, जो रास्ते में खड़े हैं, गिरा देता है।

इन्द्र॒ प्रेहि॑ पु॒रस्त्वं विश्व॒स्येशा॑न॒ ओज॑सा ।वृ॒त्राणि॑ वृत्रहं जहि
इंद्र, तुम हमारे आगे चलो। तुम सबसे बड़े हो, तुम्हारी ताकत सब पर है। दुश्मन तुम्हे रोकना चाहते हैं, पर तुम उन्हे गिरा दो। तुम दुश्मन मारनेवाले हो, मारो उन्हे।

दी॒र्घस्ते॑ अस्त्वङ्कु॒शो येना॒ वसु॑ प्र॒यच्छ॑सि । यज॑मानाय सुन्व॒ते
तुम्हारी लकड़ी लंबी रहे, जिससे तुम धन देते हो। जो यग्य करता है, जो सोम निकालता है, उसके लिए।

अ॒यं त॑ इन्द्र॒ सोमो॒ निपू॑तो॒ अधि॑ ब॒र्हिषि॑ । एही॑म॒स्य द्रवा॒ पिब॑
इंद्र, यह सोम तेरा है, साफ करके घास पर रखा है। आजा, दौड़ कर आ, इसे पी।

शाचि॑गो॒ शाचि॑पूजना॒यं रणा॑य ते सु॒तः। आख॑ण्डल॒ प्र हू॑यसे
हे बलवान, जो शक्ति से बड़ा है, यह सोम तेरा है, लड़ाई के लिए। हे अखंड, तुझे पुकारा जा रहा है।

यस्ते॑ शृङ्गवृषो नपा॒त् प्रण॑पात् कुण्ड॒पाय्यः॑ । न्यस्मिन्दध्र॒ आ मनः॑
वो सींग वाला बैल, तेरा बेटा, तेरा बड़ा बेटा, जो पीये में माहिर है, उसने इस आदमी पर नज़र डाल दी।

For invigoration and royal-heroic success—strengthening courage and dominance, winning contests, and drawing prosperity to the Soma-presser through Indra’s favor.
Because Soma is treated as the activating instrument: it ‘enters’ and empowers Indra, and that energized Indra then grants victory and wealth to the patron.
It is a metaphor of compulsion and direction—Indra’s power to drive outcomes (especially wealth and success) toward the sacrificer who performs Soma-pressing and praise.
