Sukta 4.17
त्वं महाँ इन्द्र तुभ्यं ह क्षा अनु क्षत्रं मंहना मन्यत द्यौः । त्वं वृत्रं शवसा जघन्वान्त्सृजः सिन्धूँरहिना जग्रसानान् ॥
tváṃ mahā́ṃ indra túbhyaṃ ha kṣā́ ánu kṣatráṃ maṃhánā manyata dyáuḥ | tváṃ vṛtráṃ śávasā jaghánvān tsṛjáḥ síndhūn áhinā jagrasānā́n ||
હે મહાન ઇન્દ્ર! તું જ મહાન છે; તારા માટે ધરતી અને દ્યૌ (આકાશ) તારી અતિપ્રચુર શક્તિથી પ્રાપ્ત થયેલ રાજ્યાધિકારને સ્વીકારે છે. તું બળથી વૃત્રને સંહાર્યો અને અહિ (સર્પ) દ્વારા ગળી લેવાયેલી સિંધુઓ/નદીઓને મુક્ત કરી—અવરોધના પાશમાંથી સત્યની ધારાોને છોડી દીધી.
