Sukta 4.17
त्वं महाँ इन्द्र तुभ्यं ह क्षा अनु क्षत्रं मंहना मन्यत द्यौः । त्वं वृत्रं शवसा जघन्वान्त्सृजः सिन्धूँरहिना जग्रसानान् ॥
tváṃ mahā́ṃ indra túbhyaṃ ha kṣā́ ánu kṣatráṃ maṃhánā manyata dyáuḥ | tváṃ vṛtráṃ śávasā jaghánvān tsṛjáḥ síndhūn áhinā jagrasānā́n ||
Tu es le Grand, ô Indra ; pour toi la Terre et le Ciel reconnaissent la souveraineté que confère ta force débordante. Par ta puissance tu abattis Vṛtra et tu relâchas les fleuves (síndhu) que le Serpent Ahi avait engloutis — délivrant les courants retenus par l’Entrave.
