Verses

Verse 2.1

Entonces Bhargava Vaidarbhi le preguntó: '¡Bhagavan! ¿Cuántas deidades sostienen a la criatura? ¿Cuáles la manifiestan? ¿Y quién entre ellas es la principal?'

Verse 2.2

Inside Prashna 2

Key teachings

  • • Prana (vital breath) is the supreme deity among all faculties that sustain the body — including space, air, fire, water, earth, speech, mind, eye, and ear. • All sensory and cognitive organs depend entirely on Prana; without it they cannot function, just as bees depend on their queen. • Prana divides itself fivefold (prana, apana, samana, vyana, udana) to sustain different bodily functions, demonstrating its all-pervasive nature. • Prana is identified with cosmic forces — fire, sun, rain, wind, and earth — showing the unity of microcosmic and macrocosmic principles. • Prana is equated with the unborn Brahman, the ultimate reality that is both manifested and unmanifested. • The analogy of bees following their queen illustrates the organic interdependence of all faculties on Prana. • True knowledge of Prana leads to immortality, as Prana is the very foundation of life and consciousness.
