Este breve himno, de gran simbolismo, traza el movimiento de una «vaca» radiante de luz abigarrada —a menudo leída como la Aurora o la iluminación del Sol— que avanza ante la Madre (la Tierra) y se dirige hacia el Padre (el Cielo). Luego describe el Poder cósmico que «exhala e inhala», revelando el cielo mediante un movimiento rítmico, y culmina en la visión del «pájaro» solar (pataṅga) en quien está asentada Vāk (la Palabra), brillando a través de muchos ámbitos en cada alba y en cada día.

Mantra 1
आयं गौः पृश्निरक्रमीदसदन्मातरं पुरः । पितरं च प्रयन्त्स्वः ॥
Esta Vaca radiante de luz jaspeada ha avanzado y se ha puesto ante la Madre; y sigue su camino hacia el Padre, hacia el mundo luminoso.
Mantra 2
अन्तश्चरति रोचनास्य प्राणादपानती । व्यख्यन्महिषो दिवम् ॥
Moviéndose dentro de su ámbito luminoso, exhalando e inhalando, el gran Poderoso ha hecho visible el cielo a la mirada.
Mantra 3
त्रिंशद्धाम वि राजति वाक्पतंगाय धीयते । प्रति वस्तोरह द्युभिः ॥
En treinta moradas resplandece; la Palabra (Vāk) se asienta en el vuelo del alado, Patanga — respondiendo a cada aurora y a cada día con sus luces.
Frequently Asked Questions
In Vedic poetry, the cow often symbolizes nourishing abundance and rays of light. Here the “variegated cow” is a vivid image for dawn or solar illumination that ‘gives’ vision and life.
It describes a cosmic rhythm (prāṇa and apāna) by which the Mighty Power moves and reveals the heavens. Many readers also take it as a hint that inner breath-discipline supports clearer perception.
Pataṅga is the winged solar being—often the Sun conceived as a bird moving across the sky. Saying Vāk is set in its flight suggests that true speech and knowledge ride on illumination and cosmic order, returning each day with dawn.
