Este himno es una consagración de estilo gṛhya para una morada recién construida (navaśālā), que establece un orden ritual auspicioso mediante Agni como primer protector de la casa y portador de las ofrendas. Mediante el repetido «uncir» (yuj) de fórmulas yajus, leños de encendido, el svāhā y las potencias divinas afines, afianza el rito, ahuyenta la inauspiciosidad doméstica y convierte el nuevo espacio en un hogar portador de prosperidad para el yajamāna.

नवशालायां घृतहोमः। यजूं॑षि य॒ज्ञे स॒मिधः॒ स्वाहा॒ग्निः प्र॑वि॒द्वानि॒ह वो॑ युनक्तु
En la sala nueva haya una oblación de ghee (ghṛta-homa): las fórmulas Yajus, el sacrificio, las leñas de encendido, el « svāhā » — que Agni, el bien conocedor, las unza aquí para vosotros.

यु॒नक्तु॑ दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता प्र॑जा॒नन्न॒स्मिन् य॒ज्ञे म॑हि॒षः स्वाहा॑
Que el dios Savitar, el Poderoso, el que discierne con conocimiento, unza en este sacrificio (todo) debidamente: Svāhā.

इन्द्र॑ उक्थाम॒दान्य॒स्मिन् य॒ज्ञे प्र॑वि॒द्वान् यु॑नक्तु सु॒युजः॒ स्वाहा॑
Que Indra, que halla su gozo en los himnos, el previsor, unza en este sacrificio — bien uncido: Svāhā.

प्रै॒षा य॒ज्ञे नि॒विदः॒ स्वाहा॑ शि॒ष्टाः पत्नी॑भिर्वहते॒ह यु॒क्ताः
Las impulsiones rituales (prāiṣā) en el sacrificio, las fórmulas nivid — «svāhā», debidamente dispuestas, con las Esposas (patnī) las traen aquí, uncidas para la obra.

छन्दां॑सि य॒ज्ञे म॑रुतः॒ स्वाहा॑ मा॒तेव॑ पु॒त्रं पि॑पृते॒ह यु॒क्ताः
Los metros (chandas) en el sacrificio — oh Maruts — «svāhā»: como una madre a su hijo, colmad y sustentad aquí, uncidos para la obra.

एयम॑गन् ब॒र्हिषा॒ प्रोक्ष॑णीभिर्य॒ज्ञं त॑न्वा॒नादि॑तिः॒ स्वाहा॑

Que Indra unza, de muchas maneras, las fuerzas heroicas a este sacrificio — bien unzadas: svāhā.

अश्वि॑ना॒ ब्रह्म॒णा या॑तम॒र्वाञ्चौ॑ वषट्का॒रेण॑ य॒ज्ञं व॒र्धय॑तौ । बृह॑स्पते॒ ब्रह्म॒णा या॑ह्य॒र्वाङ् य॒ज्ञो अ॒यं स्वऽरि॒दं यज॑मानाय॒ स्वाहा॑
Oh Aśvins, venid aquí por la fuerza de la plegaria sagrada (brahman); con el clamor vaṣaṭ acrecentad el sacrificio. Oh Bṛhaspati, ven aquí por la plegaria: este sacrificio es otorgador de dones para el sacrificante—svāhā.
