Sukta 20

Mantra 1

प्र कविर्देववीतयेऽव्यो वारेभिरर्षति । साह्वान्विश्वा अभि स्पृधः ॥

Forth the seer flows for the gods’ enjoyment—Soma, the sheep’s-wool-filtered, rushing with choicest streams—overpowering all resistances that oppose.

Mantra 2

स हि ष्मा जरितृभ्य आ वाजं गोमन्तमिन्वति । पवमानः सहस्रिणम् ॥

For he indeed, the purifying one, sets in motion for the singers a plenitude of force rich in rays—an abundance that multiplies into the thousandfold.

Mantra 3

परि विश्वानि चेतसा मृशसे पवसे मती । स नः सोम श्रवो विदः ॥

You move around all things with consciousness; you purify, touching and shaping our thought—O Soma, find for us the inspired fame (the hearing that spreads the truth).

Mantra 4

अभ्यर्ष बृहद्यशो मघवद्भ्यो ध्रुवं रयिम् । इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर ॥

Flow forth towards us, O Soma, with the vast glory; for the possessors of the offering bring a steadfast plenitude (rayi). Bring too the impulsion of increase (iṣ) for the seers who affirm thee with the hymn—so that the inner being is made full and firm in the Truth.

Mantra 5

त्वं राजेव सुव्रतो गिरः सोमा विवेशिथ । पुनानो वह्ने अद्भुत ॥

Thou, Soma, like a king of the right law, hast entered into the inspired utterances; purifying thyself, O wondrous carrier-flame, thou becomest the power that bears our offering and our consciousness forward.

Mantra 6

स वह्निरप्सु दुष्टरो मृज्यमानो गभस्त्योः । सोमश्चमूषु सीदति ॥

That bearer-force, hard to obstruct in the waters, being cleansed in the hands, Soma takes his seat in the bowls—establishing himself in the prepared vessels of the being for the work of the sacrifice within.

Mantra 7

क्रीळुर्मखो न मंहयुः पवित्रं सोम गच्छसि । दधत्स्तोत्रे सुवीर्यम् ॥

Sporting in thy might, eager in the sacrifice, thou goest, O Soma, to the purifier; placing in the hymn a heroic power, thou makest the word a force of victory in the inner battle.
