Sukta 6

Mantra 1

इमां मे अग्ने समिधमिमामुपसदं वनेः । इमा उ षु श्रुधी गिरः ॥

O Agni, I seek for myself this kindling of the inner fire, this near-approach of the soul to you; do you indeed hear well these utterances of aspiration.

Mantra 2

अया ते अग्ने विधेमोर्जो नपादश्वमिष्टे । एना सूक्तेन सुजात ॥

By this (movement) we would serve you, O Agni—O child of plenitude—who desires the Horse (the force of dynamic energy); by this well-shaped hymn, O well-born, grow manifest in us.

Mantra 3

तं त्वा गीर्भिर्गिर्वणसं द्रविणस्युं द्रविणोदः । सपर्येम सपर्यवः ॥

You—delighting in the inspired words, desiring the true riches and their giver—we would worship with our utterances, we who are eager in worship.

Mantra 4

स बोधि सूरिर्मघवा वसुपते वसुदावन् । युयोध्यस्मद्द्वेषांसि ॥

Awaken as our illumined leader, O bountiful one, lord of the riches, giver of riches; drive away from us the forces of hostility (that oppose the growth of light).

Mantra 5

स नो वृष्टिं दिवस्परि स नो वाजमनर्वाणम् । स नः सहस्रिणीरिषः ॥

May he bring to us the raining-down from the heaven (the descent of force); may he bring to us the vāja, the plenitude of victorious energy, undiminished; may he bring to us the thousandfold enjoyments and impulsions of nourishment.

Mantra 6

ईळानायावस्यवे यविष्ठ दूत नो गिरा । यजिष्ठ होतरा गहि ॥

O youngest (ever-new) Agni, as one to be adored and sought for help, come as our messenger by our word; O most fit for sacrifice, O Hotṛ, come here.

Mantra 7

अन्तर्ह्यग्न ईयसे विद्वाञ्जन्मोभया कवे । दूतो जन्येव मित्र्यः ॥

For, O Agni, you move within, knowing both births, O sage; a messenger like one born among men, you are friendly in your workings.

Mantra 8

स विद्वाँ आ च पिप्रयो यक्षि चिकित्व आनुषक् । आ चास्मिन्त्सत्सि बर्हिषि ॥

You who know, come and grow full (in us); O conscious one, sacrifice in right succession; and come, sit here upon this seat of offering (the spread of consecrated consciousness).
