The Slaying of the Daitya Ruru, the Hymn to Cāmuṇḍā/Kālarātri, and the Doctrine of the Threefold Power

इति स्तुता तदा देवी रुद्रेण परमेष्ठिना । तुतोष परमा देवी वाक्यं छेदमुवाच ह । वरं वृणीष्व देवेश यत् ते मनसि वर्तते ॥

iti stutā tadā devī rudreṇa parameṣṭhinā | tutoṣa paramā devī vākyaṃ chedam uvāca ha | varaṃ vṛṇīṣva deveśa yat te manasi varttate ||

So wurde die Göttin damals von Rudra, dem höchsten Herrn, gepriesen; die erhabene Göttin war erfreut und sprach diese Worte: „Wähle eine Gabe, o Herr der Götter – was immer in deinem Sinn weilt.“
