Others—becoming headless trunks—danced about, those leaders of demons. Thus, in a moment, all of them, evil-minded, were destroyed; and the rest all fled to where that Mahiṣāsura was.

The kabandha motif (headless trunk still moving) is a recurring epic trope, used to heighten dramatic intensity and signal overwhelming defeat.
No geographic location is provided; “where Mahiṣāsura was” is a narrative pointer rather than a place-name.
The verse frames destructive aggression as self-defeating: leaders and followers alike collapse and scatter when confronted by a stronger, organized defense.
