Vision of the Trimūrti in Rudra, the Gautama Curse, the Manifestation of the Godāvarī, and the Niḥśvāsa-saṃhitā Account
Varāha (default speaker per dialogue framework in absence of explicit attribution)
It reflects a Purāṇic-era tendency to critique perceived degeneration of religious authority in Kali-yuga, especially the production of self-authorized ‘śāstras’ and livelihood-based ritual economies.
No geographic location is named in this verse; the focus is social-ethical and polemical rather than topographical.
It cautions against greed-motivated religious entrepreneurship and self-legitimating teachings, framing ethical authority as incompatible with exploitation and impurity of intent.
