क्व नूनं कद्वो अर्थं गन्ता दिवो न पृथिव्याः । क्व वो गावो न रण्यन्ति ॥
Transliteration
kvá nū́naṃ kád vo árthaṃ gántā divó ná pṛthivyā́ḥ | kvá vo gā́vo ná raṇyanti ||
Translation
Wohin nun, zu welchem Zweck, werdet ihr gehen — vom Himmel her oder von der Erde? Wo sind eure lichtvollen «Kühe», die sich freuen und widerhallen; wo ist jene Herde von Strahlen, mit der ihr den Suchenden erquicklich macht?
