Ramcharitmanas: Bala Kanda, Prakarana 21

Chaupai 207.1-5

The prasanga

Vishvamitra arrives at Ayodhya; Dasharatha receives him with honours; the sage beholds Rama and requests that Rama (with Lakshmana) accompany him to protect the yajna and slay the demons.

Themes

For right living (Ramrajya ethics)

Raj-dharma as humility before spiritual authority; hospitality (atithi-satkara) and prompt commitment to righteous action; governance is legitimized by reverence for tapasya and by readiness to protect society from adharma.

Nirguna and saguna

Vishvamitra’s absorption at Rama’s face presents Saguna form as the doorway into the Nirguna plenitude: the seer who knows the Absolute is nonetheless ‘captured’ by the manifest beauty, implying that form is not a limitation but a compassionate self-disclosure of Brahman.

FAQs
