Vatsalya
Bālakāṇḍa childhood-līlā: the children eat, look for an opening, and run off playfully with food smeared on their faces, heightening the charm of the infant-divine in the domestic setting.
Dharma is shown as ‘lokasaṅgraha’ through sanctified domestic life: food, family care, and communal affection become arenas of righteousness; ideal polity is rooted in homes where innocence, restraint, and loving oversight are honored.
The nirguṇa Absolute is approached through a saguna, home-like manifestation: the same Brahman who is beyond attributes freely adopts child-form and child-behavior, allowing love (not abstraction) to become a valid mode of knowing.
Traditional Manas expositors read this as a vignette of child-Rāma’s (and companions’) līlā: the Lord’s supreme majesty is deliberately veiled under infantile spontaneity. The ‘capala citta’ is not moral fickleness but the charming ungoverned movement of childhood that intensifies vātsalya-bhāva in the devotees; the smear of curd and rice functions as a concrete, domestic sign that draws the transcendent into the household sphere without diminishing divinity.
Doha (13/11 mātrā pattern, conventional doha cadence)
Anuprāsa (sound repetition in ‘capal/cit’, ‘ita/uta’), Drishṭānta-like vivid imagery, and Chitra (pictorial description) enhancing līlā-rasa
Vishishtadvaita-leaning bhakti (God’s sweetness and accessibility foregrounded, without denying transcendence)
Bilawal (common bright, festive contour for bāla-līlā passages in many Manas-path traditions)
