मन्थराप्रवेशः · Manthara Observes Ayodhya and Incites Kaikeyi
सा दह्यमाना कोपेन मन्थरा पापदर्शिनी ।
शयानामेत्य कैकेयीमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१३॥
sā dahyamānā kopeṇa mantharā pāpadarśinī |
śayānām etya kaikeyīm idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||13||
Mantharā, von böser Gesinnung und vor Zorn brennend, ging zu Kaikeyī, die ruhend dalag, und sprach diese Worte.
The malevolent Manthara on fire with fury reached Kaikeyi lying upon her couch and said:
Dharma is threatened by malicious counsel: the verse introduces the moment where unethical speech and intent begin steering a queen away from truth and righteousness.
Mantharā, enraged by the planned consecration, goes directly to Kaikeyī to provoke her.
The opposite of virtue—malevolence and anger—showing how inner vice can drive destructive action.
