Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Debate on Destiny vs Human Effort
मङ्गलैरभिषिञ्चस्व तत्र त्वं व्यापृतो भव।अहमेको महीपालानलं वारयितुं बलात्।।।।
maṅgalair abhiṣiñcasva tatra tvaṃ vyāpṛto bhava | aham eko mahīpālān alaṃ vārayituṃ balāt || 2.23.29 ||

The consecration may be performed with these auspicious materials. I am alone capable of facing these kings with my valour.
Dharma is the protection of rightful order: the king’s consecration symbolizes legitimate rule, and Lakṣmaṇa frames his own duty as removing obstacles so that righteous governance can proceed.
Lakṣmaṇa urges Rāma not to be distracted by potential resistance from other rulers; he offers to personally deter any hostile kings while Rāma completes the coronation rites.
Readiness for self-sacrificing service—Lakṣmaṇa’s martial resolve is presented as subordinate to Rāma’s dharmic kingship.
