Whoso knoweth the season by name, the Overpowerer,—even that overpowering Power,—he draweth unto himself the splendour of the unfriendly rival. This season verily is called the Overpowerer, namely the goat with the fivefold rice-porridge. It burneth clean away the splendour of the unfriendly rival, by its own inherent might, for him who bestoweth the goat and the fivefold porridge, made luminous with the priestly fee.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (specific r̥ṣi not stated in the provided excerpt)
Devata: Abhibhū (personified ṛtu/rite-power); indirectly Agni as the consuming agent in ‘dahati’
Chandas: Prose-yajus style (brāhmaṇa-like Atharvanic prose within Saṃhitā context)
Primary: raudra
Secondary: vira
