कामो॑ जज्ञे प्रथ॒मो नैनं॑ दे॒वा आ॑पुः पि॒तरो॒ न मर्त्याः॑ । तत॒स्त्वम॑सि॒ ज्याया॑न् वि॒श्वहा॑ म॒हांस्तस्मै॑ ते काम॒ नम॒ इत् कृ॑णोमि
kā́mo jajñe prathamó náinaṁ devā́ ā́puḥ pitáro ná mártyāḥ | tátas tvám asi jyā́yān viśváhā mahā́ṁs tásmai te kā́ma náma íd kṛṇomi
Kāma was born the first: him neither Gods attained, nor Fathers, nor mortals. Therefore art thou ever greater, mighty: to thee, O Kāma, to him—homage, even so, I render.
Kāma wurde als Erster geboren: weder die Götter erreichten ihn, noch die Väter (Pitṛs), noch die Sterblichen. Darum bist du allezeit der Größere, der Mächtige; dir, o Kāma—ihm—bringe ich eben so Huldigung dar.
