King of the rivers, he has put on his garment; he mounted the swiftest boat of ṛta. In the waters the drop has grown, driven by the falcon; the Father milks him, and he milks the Father’s kinship.
Soma is ‘king of the rivers’: the sovereign current among all streams of consciousness. He assumes a vesture—taking form in mind-life. He mounts the swift boat of ṛta: moving by the straight, luminous law that carries one across the waters of becoming. The ‘drop’ (drapsa) grows in the waters of the being, impelled by the śyena (falcon-force)—the swift upward aspiration/intuition that brings the nectar from the heights. The Father (Divine Source) ‘milks’ Soma forth—Ananda is drawn from the Supreme; and Soma in turn ‘milks’ the Father’s kinship—awakening in us the filial relation, the recognition of our origin in the Divine.
The highest delight is both gift and bridge: drawn from the Source by aspiration, it grows in the waters of life and carries us by the law of truth into conscious kinship with the Divine.
Soma-ritual, Waters (Āpas), Soma-bringer (Śyena), Essence-extraction
The seer frames Soma as a vehicle of ṛta and as a means of divine filiations—Ananda establishing a lived relationship with the Source.
Essence that traverses the waters of existence by ṛta; mediator between Source (Father) and embodied streams.
Concentration of bliss that grows within life and ferries consciousness swiftly toward truth; awakens divine kinship.
Soma-yajña: praise of Soma as sovereign flow and essence; recited during purification/collection phases

4 x 11 syllables (approx.)
Swift, crossing rhythm—boat imagery reinforced by quick consonant clusters (ṛtasya nāvam āruhat).
Gives a sense of passage and uplift; supports meditation on ‘crossing over’ and on concentrated essence.
Soma purification: imagery of waters and Soma-drop growing; recited in contexts of Soma flow and offering, aligning with pressing/clarifying stages.
During Pavamāna chanting while Soma is flowing and being collected as the ‘essence-drop’
Chant to affirm Soma’s right-course (ṛta) and its growth in the waters before offering
Use when feeling ‘adrift’: as a mantra of right passage—aligning one’s movement with ṛta and calling the swift boat of truth through emotional/vital waters.
√ruh ‘rise, mount’ → aruhat; √vṛdh ‘grow’ → vāvṛdhe (perfect/intensive growth); √duh ‘milk’ → duhe (drawing out essence). śyena ‘falcon’ is a standard Soma-bringer image; psychologically it can indicate the swift upward mind-force that fetches and impels the delight-essence into the waters of life. nāu- ‘boat’ (PIE *neh₂u- ‘boat’) as vehicle of crossing into ṛta.
Ṛta as vehicle/pathway, growth of essence in the waters, source (Father) and manifestation
Explicit: Soma mounts the boat of ṛta—right order as a conveyance, not merely a rule.
The swiftest boat implies the most truthful, least distorted movement.
Essence-drop grows in waters: spirit-seed developing within life to manifest divine relation.
Bandhu-based Vedic psychology (correspondence of macrocosm and microcosm), aligned with integral interpretation.
Waters = life/subconscious flux; boat of ṛta = sure inner law; falcon = swift intuition/aspiration; drop = concentrated Ananda; milking = drawing essence from the Source into manifestation.
Feel a single ‘drop’ of delight in the heart or between the brows; let it grow and guide you across emotional waters by the law of truth (ṛta).
Ājñā (śyena/intuition) + Anāhata (drapsa as heart-essence)
Box-breath (4-4-4-4) to stabilize ‘boat’; then soft natural breathing while holding the sense of a luminous drop expanding.
Guided crossing—steady, intuitive movement through inner flux toward truth.
When turbulence arises, recall ‘ṛtasya nāvam’: choose the next truest step; concentrate on one pure drop of joy and let it widen—do not argue with the waters; cross them.
Keep a slightly lifting contour on ‘ṛtasya nāvam āruhat’ to evoke ascent/boarding; allow a gentle fall on ‘apsu drapso vāvṛdhe’ to show growth within waters.
Mark ‘rājā’ and ‘ṛtasya’ with clear emphasis; articulate śyena-jūtaḥ distinctly as the turning image.
Pronounce ṛ in ṛtasya clearly (vocalic r)., Keep śy in śyena as a single palatalized onset, not ‘si-ye’., In vāvṛdhe, sustain the long ā and retroflex ṛ.
steady, slightly regal; clear articulation for imagery-heavy compounds
