Rama and Lakshmana were sad to hear the words of their anguished father. Rama replies:
Dharma includes empathetic responsiveness: right action is not cold legality; Rāma hears his father’s anguish and answers with humility and compassion.
After Daśaratha’s lament, the narration shifts to Rāma’s response, with Lakṣmaṇa present.
Rāma’s compassion and composure under grief, supported by Lakṣmaṇa’s loyal presence.
