Sukta 8.69
You are the resounding stream for the swelling ones, the sounding flow for the ever-yoking ones; you are lord of the unassailable cows, of the milking streams—so that the nourishment may be secured.
Soma becomes the inner current (nadá) that gives voice and movement to growing energies (odatīnām) and to the powers that continually yoke themselves to the work (yoyuvatīnām). As lord of the ‘cows’ (aghnyā dhenū)—the rays/streams of knowledge—Soma governs the outpouring of illumination so that iṣ (nourishing impulsion) is firmly established in us (iṣudhyasi: you make it ‘well-placed/secured’).
True nourishment is a conscious flow: when delight is present, energies harmonize, knowledge streams become generous, and the right sustenance is secured within life.
cows-as-rays, Soma-flow, nourishment, governance-of-energies
Book 8 Soma passages often equate Soma with a flowing sound-current and the cows with rays/streams of knowledge.
Teaches Soma as both joy and ‘nadā’—a resonant inner flow that organizes energies and releases knowledge.
Soma circulates delight and vitality through the worlds, making the rays yield their nourishment.
Bliss-current that harmonizes prana, yokes faculties to the work, and releases streams of knowledge.
Soma praise during pressing/filtration; emphasizing flow and nourishment

Likely Jagatī or Triṣṭubh (The diction suggests a longer flow; exact scansion not confirmed)
48
4 × ~12 (approx., if Jagatī)
Wave-like, riverine, with repeated ‘nadam’ creating resonance.
Induces a feeling of inner streaming sound; steadies and ‘lubricates’ the breath-mind connection.
Soma pressing/flow imagery; also used as inner invocation for release and right governance of the ‘cows’ (rays) in the sacrifice
When Soma is conceived as stream and sustenance; during libations and invitations to Soma’s delight.
Recitation accompanying the offering, aligning inner and outer ‘flow’.
For emotional dryness or scattered energy: chant to restore a sense of inner flow and gentle increase.
nadá- from √nad ‘to sound, roar’ → river-roar; inwardly the resonance of force. aghnyā́ ‘not to be killed’ (a- + √han ‘slay’) is a canonical epithet of cows; symbolically ‘rays/knowledges’ that must not be violated by ignorance. dhénu- from √dhā/√dhen ‘to suck, nourish’ → ‘that which yields nourishment’ (streams of plenty). √yuj in yoyuvatī- ‘yoke, join’ → continual harnessing of energies.
go (cow) as ray/knowledge, iṣ (nourishing impulsion), right lordship over energies (pati)
yoyuvatī = repeated yoking to right order; Soma supports ṛta by harmonizing energies.
Cows/dhenus as truth-rays; Soma governs their yielding.
From delight arises ordered energy and luminous knowledge-streams.
Yoga of Ananda: bliss as organizer of prana and revealer of knowledge.
River = current of delight; milk = essence of knowledge; yoking = disciplined integration of faculties.
Feel Soma as a gentle audible flow in the spine/breath; allow it to ‘milk’ insight from the quiet mind.
Svādhiṣṭhāna (flow/nectar) supporting Viśuddha (sound-current).
Ujjāyī-light (very soft throat constriction) to perceive inner ‘nadá’ while chanting mentally afterward.
Calm, flowing awareness with subtle joy.
Chant, then sit and listen inwardly for a continuous ‘stream-sound’ of breath. Let thoughts be ‘cows’—do not ‘slay’ them; simply let them yield their essence as insight.
Svara not provided; emphasize the repeated ‘nadam’ with identical pitch contour to create mantra-resonance.
Two ‘nadam’ phrases should be chanted as parallel waves; slight pause before ‘patiṃ’.
nadam: dental ‘d’; short ‘a’, odatīnām: long ‘ī’; clear ‘t’ dental, yoyuvatīnām: articulate ‘yoyu-’ smoothly, aghnyānām: ‘ghn’ cluster careful; keep ‘nyā’ palatal nasal + long ā, dhenūnām: aspirated ‘dh’; long ‘ū’
Liquid, continuous, slightly humming resonance; avoid percussive attack.
