Agni Jātavedas
ఈ చిన్న సూక్తం జాతవేదసుడైన అగ్నిని ఆహ్వానిస్తుంది. అతని “అశ్వం” (అతని వేగవంతమైన, ఫలప్రదమైన శక్తి) వచ్చి సిద్ధం చేసిన బర్హిస్—పవిత్ర యజ్ఞవేదికపై—ఆసీనమగునట్లు ప్రేరేపిస్తుంది. అనంతరం కవి దాతృత్వముగల అగ్నికి సుసంస్కృతమైన స్తోత్రాన్ని అర్పిస్తాడు; చివరగా దేవతల వద్దకు హవిస్సును మోసికెళ్లే అగ్నியின் ప్రకాశకిరణాలు యజ్ఞాన్ని ముందుకు నడిపించి విజయవంతంగా సంపూర్ణం చేయునట్లు పిలుస్తాడు.

प्र नूनं जातवेदसमश्वं हिनोत वाजिनम् । इदं नो बर्हिरासदे ॥
ఇప్పుడు జాతవేదస్ యొక్క వాజిన్ అశ్వాన్ని ముందుకు నడిపించండి; ఆయన మా ఈ బర్హి (యజ్ఞాసనం) పై వచ్చి ఆసీనుడగుగాక.
Mantra 2
अस्य प्र जातवेदसो विप्रवीरस्य मीळ्हुषः । महीमियर्मि सुष्टुतिम् ॥
ఈ జాతవేదస్ కొరకు—విప్ర-వీరులతో సమృద్ధుడై, ఉదార దాతయైన ఆయన కొరకు—నేను మహత్తరమైన, సుసంఘటితమైన స్తుతిగీతాన్ని ఉద్ధరిస్తాను.

या रुचो जातवेदसो देवत्रा हव्यवाहनीः । ताभिर्नो यज्ञमिन्वतु ॥
జాతవేదసుని ఆ రుచులు (దీప్త కిరణాలు)—దేవత్రా, హవ్యవాహినీ (హవిని దేవుల వైపు మోసుకెళ్లేవి)—వాటిచేత ఆయన మా యజ్ఞాన్ని ప్రవృత్తింపజేసి, సిద్ధికి చేర్చుగాక.
