Este breve hino de louvor a Agni funciona como um encanto protetor e purificador: proclama a invulnerabilidade de Agni ao dano «cruel» e, com seu calor penetrante (tejana), expulsa aflições poluentes, roedoras ou semelhantes a fios. Ao combinar a força purificadora do fogo com o poder esmagador das águas e a capacidade orientadora de Vāc, ele conduz as agências nocivas a uma «saída» (niṣkṛti) e restaura a vitalidade ordenada sob a constância solar.

अग्निस्तवः। न॒हि ते॑ अग्ने त॒न्वः क्रू॒रमा॒नंश॒ मर्त्यः॑ । क॒पिर्ब॑भस्ति॒ तेज॑नं॒ स्वं ज॒रायु॒ गौरि॑व
Louvor a Agni. Pois nenhum mortal, ó Agni, alcançou o dano cruel contra o teu corpo. O fulvo irrompe com o seu próprio brilho agudo, como uma vaca (expulsa) a placenta.

Como um carneiro, em verdade, és arremessado e depois apartado, quando, fugindo para o alto, róis por cima. Com a cabeça ele fere a cabeça; com as águas — ó Águas — esmagando-te, ele pisa os teus filamentos com mandíbulas fulvas.
