Sukta 1.116
Gift-boon praise; used to invoke svasti (well-being) and vāja (plenitude of force) through Aśvin grace, often in healing and prosperity segments of soma ritual.
svasti (good-being as stable state), vāja (plenitude of force), arya as inner nobility aligned with Ṛta
The ‘arya/havya’ state implies alignment of action with ṛta—energy becomes orderly, effective, and offered.
Nāsatyā suggests truth-acting powers that restore what is distorted.
Transformation of raw vitality into illumined force—an inner ‘re-creation’ of the human instrument.
Proto-Vedāntic / integral yoga reading (Aurobindo-Kashyap): descent of force, purification of prāṇa, consecration of life.
White horse = clarified prāṇic dynamism; ‘gift’ = descent; ‘ever’ (śaśvat) = stable establishment in the nature.
Invite the ‘white horse’—pure impulsion—so action becomes luminous, steady, and offered.
Maṇipūra (will/force) harmonized with Anāhata (nobility, offering).
Even inhalation to gather force; longer exhalation to ‘whiten’/clarify impulse; brief pause for offering-intent.
Steady, confident aspiration with purified dynamism.
Before action, inwardly offer the impulse to the Divine; reject restless rajasic push, call for ‘śveta aśva’—clear, obedient energy.
Mixed udātta/anudātta/svarita as per Rigvedic accent; preserve udātta on key lifts (e.g., śvétam, svásti, mahí).
Keep udātta as clear pitch-rise; do not over-sing svarita—let it fall naturally after udātta.
aśvinā: ‘śv’ cluster clean, not ‘swinā’, śvetam: dental ‘t’ (not retroflex), svasti: ‘sv’ joined, short ‘a’, kīrtenyam: long ī, and ‘ny’ lightly palatal
Bright, steady, invoking clarity and strength.
