दशरथस्य शोकानुचिन्तनं शब्धवेधि-दोषस्मरणं च
Daśaratha’s grief, karmic reflection, and the remembered ‘śabdavedhī’ misdeed
न द्विजातिरहं राजन्मा भूत्ते मनसो व्यथा।शूद्रायामस्मि वैश्येन जातो जनपदाधिप।।2.63.53।।
na dvijātir ahaṃ rājan mā bhūt te manaso vyathā | śūdrāyām asmi vaiśyena jāto janapadādhipa || 2.63.53 ||
“Wahai Raja, penguasa negeri, aku bukan golongan dwija (dua-kali-lahir); janganlah hatimu diselimuti gelisah. Aku lahir dari ibu Śūdra dan ayah Vaiśya.”
'O king Dasaratha, lord of the land, I am not a brahmin. Feel no sense of guilt in your mind. I was born of a sudra mother and a vaisya father.
