Parjanya
Gāyatrī
This brief Gāyatrī hymn invokes Parjanya, “son of Heaven,” as the generous rain-bringer who awakens pasture, plants, and the fertility of cattle and horses. It praises his life-giving power, then turns to a direct ritual instruction: offer sweet oblation to Parjanya so that he may grant orderly increase (Iḷā) and well-being.

पर्जन्याय प्र गायत दिवस्पुत्राय मीळ्हुषे । स नो यवसमिच्छतु ॥
पर्जन्य के लिए गाओ। वो आसमान का बेटा है और बहुत देता है। वो हमारे लिए खेता और चारा चाहता है ताकि हमारा काम बढ़े।

यो गर्भमोषधीनां गवां कृणोत्यर्वताम् । पर्जन्यः पुरुषीणाम् ॥
पर्जन्य में बहुत ताकत है। वो पौधों, गाय और घोड़ों के अंदर जान डालता है। यह सब उसी की देन है।

तस्मा इदास्ये हविर्जुहोता मधुमत्तमम् । इळां नः संयतं करत् ॥
उसके लिए मीठा हवन समर्पाओ। वो हमारे लिए सही काम और बरकत बनाता है। सब कुछ सही लगा के देता है।
