Vāyu

This short hymn invites Vāyu, the swift Wind, to the Soma-pressing, repeatedly calling him to come in his shining chariot to drink the freshly pressed Soma. It links proper ritual arrangement (hotrā) with the arrival of divine vitality, asking Vāyu to bring abundance, strength, and expansive riches to the sacrificer.

विहि होत्रा अवीता विपो न रायो अर्यः । वायवा चन्द्रेण रथेन याहि सुतस्य पीतये ॥
दो भेंट तैयार करो, मदद करने वाले। जैसे कोई ज्ञानी लोगों के लिए धन चाहता है। वायु, तुम अपना चमकता हुआ रथ लेकर आओ। सोम पीने के लिए आओ।

निर्युवाणो अशस्तीर्नियुत्वाँ इन्द्रसारथिः । वायवा चन्द्रेण रथेन याहि सुतस्य पीतये ॥
झूठी बातें दूर करो। सही तरीके से जुड़ के, इंद्र जो रथ चला रहा है, उसके साथ आओ। वायु, अपना चमकता हुआ रथ लेकर आओ। सोम पीने के लिए आओ।

अनु कृष्णे वसुधिती येमाते विश्वपेशसा । वायवा चन्द्रेण रथेन याहि सुतस्य पीतये ॥
काले रंग के लोगों के पीछे पीछे, धन के दो खज़ाने फैल रहे हैं, हर तरह के रूप में। वायु, अपना चमकता हुआ रथ लेकर आओ। सोम पीने के लिए आओ।

वहन्तु त्वा मनोयुजो युक्तासो नवतिर्नव । वायवा चन्द्रेण रथेन याहि सुतस्य पीतये ॥
वायु भगवान के लिए यह मंत्र है। उनके रथ को 99 घोड़े खींचे जा रहे हैं। यह घोड़े मन से जुड़ के चले जाते हैं। वायु, तुम चमकदार रथ लेकर आओ। सोम का जूस निकल के तैयार है, उसको पीने के लिए आओ।

वायो शतं हरीणां युवस्व पोष्याणाम् । उत वा ते सहस्रिणो रथ आ यातु पाजसा ॥
वायु, तुम्हारे लिए 100 चमकदार घोड़े तैयार हैं। यह घोड़े ऐसे हैं जो आगे बढ़ते रहते हैं। या फिर तुम्हारा एक ऐसा रथ आए जिसमें हज़ार घोड़े हों। वो अपनी ताकत से चमक के आए।
