मा निन्दत य इमां मह्यं रातिं देवो ददौ मर्त्याय स्वधावान् । पाकाय गृत्सो अमृतो विचेता वैश्वानरो नृतमो यह्वो अग्निः ॥
mā́ nindata yá imā́ṃ máhyaṃ rātíṃ devó dadā́u mártyāya sva-dhā́vān | pā́kāya gṛ́tso amṛ́to ví-cetā vaiśvānaráḥ nṛ́-tamo yahvó agníḥ ||
उस देव की निन्दा मत करो जिसने मुझे यह दान दिया है—स्वधावान्, अर्थात् अपनी स्व-शक्ति और नियम से युक्त होकर, एक मर्त्य को। परिपक्व होने वाले साधक के लिए वही अग्नि—यह्व (उदात्त-प्रेरित), नृतम (अत्यन्त पुरुषार्थी), वैश्वानर—विचेता अमृत बनता है, पाका के लिए गृत्स (प्रेरित कवि) होकर।
