Ce bref hymne de guérison et de nutrition confère puissance à l’herbe keśavardhanī (« qui accroît les cheveux ») en enracinant son efficacité dans Bhūmi/Pṛthivī, soutien suprême de la vie végétale et de la médecine. Il « recueille » le remède sur la peau extérieure (tvac) de la terre, puis exalte l’herbe comme la première des thérapeutiques et, enfin, s’adresse aux plantes comme à des agents généreux et invincibles qui fortifient et multiplient les cheveux.

केशवर्धनी औषधिः। इ॒मा यास्ति॒स्रः पृ॑थि॒वीस्तासां॑ ह॒ भूमि॑रुत्त॒मा। तासा॒मधि॑ त्व॒चो अ॒हं भे॑ष॒जं समु॑ जग्रभम्
Keśavardhanī est une plante. De ces trois terres, en vérité, le sol est la plus haute ; de leur « peau » de surface j’ai entièrement saisi le remède.

श्रेष्ठ॑मसि भेष॒जानां॒ वसि॑ष्ठं॒ वीरु॑धानाम्। सोमो॒ भग॑ इव॒ यामे॑षु॒ दे॒वेषु॒ वरु॑णो॒ यथा॑
Tu es le meilleur des remèdes, le plus excellent des végétaux : comme Soma est, dans les saisons, semblable à Bhaga, comme Varuṇa parmi les dieux.

रेव॑ती॒रना॑धृषः सिषा॒सवः॑ सिषासथ । उ॒त स्थ के॑श॒दृंह॑णी॒रथो॑ ह केश॒वर्ध॑नीः
Vous êtes généreuses, inattaquables ; vous aspirez au succès et vous faites advenir le succès. Vous êtes fortifiantes pour les cheveux ; oui, en vérité, vous accroissez la chevelure.
