[Turīya is] not that which is conscious of the internal, not that which is conscious of the external, not that which is conscious of both; not a compact mass of consciousness; not conscious, not unconscious. It is unseen, not an object of transaction, ungraspable, without distinguishing mark, unthinkable, indescribable; its essence is the certitude of the one Self; it is the cessation of phenomenal proliferation, peaceful, auspicious, non-dual. This they consider the Fourth; that is the Self; that is to be known.

Turīya (Ātman/Brahman as non-dual reality; prapañcopaśama)Mahavakya: Directly supports Atharva-veda Mahāvākya “ayam ātmā brahma” by defining the Ātman as advaita and the Fourth beyond waking/dream/deep sleep.AtharvaAtharva-veda (Ātharvaṇa tradition; commonly transmitted with Śaunaka affiliation) ShakhaChandas: Prose
