Sukta 32

Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (often transmitted under Atharvan/Angiras rubric for rakṣohā hymns)

Devata: Agni (as rakṣohā, demon-burner)

Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (predominant in AV apotropaic stanzas; this verse conforms to anuṣṭubh-like cadence)

AV 6.32 es un himno rakṣohā compacto (expulsor de demonios) que convierte el fuego del hogar y la soberanía divina en arma para ahuyentar a yātudhānas, rākṣasas y piśācas de la casa y de sus linderos. Combina el contraataque ígneo (Agni), una fuerza de incapacitación corporal (Rudra) y el orden jurídico‑protector (Mitra–Varuṇa) para dejar a los agresores incapaces de hallar a la familia o su «lugar de asentamiento» (pratiṣṭhā), y finalmente los consigna a Yama (remoción/muerte).

यातुधानक्षयणम्। अ॒न्त॒र्दा॒वे जु॑हुता॒ स्वे॒३तद् या॑तुधान॒क्षय॑णं घृ॒तेन॑ । आ॒राद् रक्षां॑सि॒ प्रति॑ दह॒ त्वम॑ग्ने॒ न नो॑ गृ॒हाणा॒मुप॑ तीतपासि

En el fuego encendido, en vuestro propio lugar, haced la oblación: éste es el aniquilador de los Yātudhānas, con ghee. Desde lejos quema y rechaza a los Rākṣasas, oh Agni; que no se acerquen para chamuscar y hostigar nuestras casas.

रु॒द्रो वो॑ ग्री॒वा अश॑रैत् पिशाचाः पृ॒ष्टीर्वोऽपि॑ शृणातु यातुधानाः । वी॒रुद् वो॑ वि॒श्वतो॑वीर्या य॒मेन॒ सम॑जीगमत्

Que Rudra hiera vuestros cuellos, oh Piśācas; que también aplaste vuestras espaldas, oh Yātudhānas. La enredadera todopoderosa, Virudh, junto con Yama, ha venido y os ha llevado por completo.

अभ॑यं मित्रावरुणावि॒हास्तु॑ नो॒ऽर्चिषा॒त्त्रिणो॑ नुदतं प्र॒तीचः॑ । मा ज्ञा॒तारं॒ मा प्र॑ति॒ष्ठां वि॑दन्त मि॒थो वि॑घ्ना॒ना उप॑ यन्तु मृ॒त्युम्

Que aquí sea nuestro el no‑temor, oh Mitra‑Varuṇa; con vuestra llama rechazad a los devoradores, empujadlos hacia atrás. Que no hallen a nuestro pariente ni nuestra firme base; estorbándose unos a otros, que los obstructores vayan a la Muerte.
