दि॒वस्पृ॒ष्ठे धाव॑मानं सुप॒र्णमदि॑त्याः पु॒त्रं ना॒थका॑म॒ उप॑ यामि भी॒तः । स नः॑ सूर्य॒ प्र ति॑र दी॒र्घमायु॒र्मा रि॑षाम सुम॒तौ ते॑ स्याम
divás-pṛṣṭhé dhā́vamānaṃ supárṇam áditiyāḥ putráṃ nā́thakā́ma úpa yāmi bhītáḥ | sá naḥ sū́rya prá tirā dīrghám ā́yur mā́ riṣāma sumatáu te syāma
On heaven’s back I seek, in fear, the swift-flying fair-wing, Aditi’s son, desiring a guardian. Do thou, O Sun, bear forth for us long life; let us not suffer harm: may we be in thy gracious favour.
Sobre el lomo del cielo, con temor, me acerco al Suparṇa de hermosas alas, veloz en su vuelo, hijo de Aditi, deseando un protector. Oh Sol, haz brotar para nosotros larga vida; que no suframos daño: que estemos en tu benévola gracia.
