Sukta 92

Mantra 1

परि सुवानो हरिरंशुः पवित्रे रथो न सर्जि सनये हियानः । आपच्छ्लोकमिन्द्रियं पूयमानः प्रति देवाँ अजुषत प्रयोभिः ॥

Circling as he is pressed out, the tawny ray—upon the filter—rushes like a chariot, speeding for the winning. Purifying, he reaches the hymn of power, the Indra-force; and the gods accept him in return with their nourishments and forward gifts.

Mantra 2

अच्छा नृचक्षा असरत्पवित्रे नाम दधानः कविरस्य योनौ । सीदन्होतेव सदने चमूषूपेमग्मन्नृषयः सप्त विप्राः ॥

With clear human-seeing vision he streams toward the purifier, taking his name in the womb of the Seer. He seats himself like a priest in the session, in the bowls; and to him there come near the seven inspired sages—voices of illumined thought.

Mantra 3

प्र सुमेधा गातुविद्विश्वदेवः सोमः पुनानः सद एति नित्यम् । भुवद्विश्वेषु काव्येषु रन्तानु जनान्यतते पञ्च धीरः ॥

Forward moves Soma, of good intelligence, knower of the path, belonging to all the gods; purifying, he comes always to the session. Becoming the enjoyer in all the inspired works, the steadfast one extends himself through the peoples in fivefold wise action.

Mantra 4

तव त्ये सोम पवमान निण्ये विश्वे देवास्त्रय एकादशासः । दश स्वधाभिरधि सानो अव्ये मृजन्ति त्वा नद्यः सप्त यह्वीः ॥

In your hidden depths, O Soma purifying, all the gods are at work—three and eleven; and ten with their own inherent powers. Upon the woolly ridge they cleanse you; the seven mighty rivers wash you into brightness.

Mantra 5

तन्नु सत्यं पवमानस्यास्तु यत्र विश्वे कारवः संनसन्त । ज्योतिर्यदह्ने अकृणोदु लोकं प्रावन्मनुं दस्यवे करभीकम् ॥

Let this indeed be the truth of the purifying Soma—where all the makers of the work come together. When he made the Light a world for the day, he protected Manu and drove the Dasyu into confinement.

Mantra 6

परि सद्मेव पशुमान्ति होता राजा न सत्यः समितीरियानः । सोमः पुनानः कलशाँ अयासीत्सीदन्मृगो न महिषो वनेषु ॥

He moves about like a Hotṛ among the rich herds, true as a king advancing to the assemblies. Soma, purifying, has come to the jars; he settles like a wild beast, like a great buffalo in the forests—masterful, at home in his own strength.
