Mantra 1
सोमः पुनानो अर्षति सहस्रधारो अत्यविः । वायोरिन्द्रस्य निष्कृतम् ॥
Soma, purifying himself, streams in a thousand currents, passing beyond the woolen filter; he goes to the prepared seat and offering-space of Vāyu and Indra within us.
Mantra 2
पवमानमवस्यवो विप्रमभि प्र गायत । सुष्वाणं देववीतये ॥
O seekers of the boon, sing out toward the purifying Soma, the inspired one; pressed out, he comes for the gods’ glad receiving—so that the divine powers may enter and partake within us.
Mantra 3
पवन्ते वाजसातये सोमाः सहस्रपाजसः । गृणाना देववीतये ॥
The Soma currents purify themselves for the winning of plenitude of force; thousand-strong in their energies, they flow while being hymned, for the gods’ glad participation within us.
Mantra 4
उत नो वाजसातये पवस्व बृहतीरिषः । द्युमदिन्दो सुवीर्यम् ॥
And for us, for the winning of plenitude, purify yourself into vast impulsions of energy; O Indu, bring the shining power and the noble hero-strength within the being.
Mantra 5
ते नः सहस्रिणं रयिं पवन्तामा सुवीर्यम् । सुवाना देवास इन्दवः ॥
May these Indu powers—divine in their working, well-expressed—purify for us a thousandfold plenitude, bringing also the noble hero-strength into our nature.
Mantra 6
अत्या हियाना न हेतृभिरसृग्रं वाजसातये । वि वारमव्यमाशवः ॥
Like swift steeds rushing on, not driven by goads, they have streamed forth for the winning of plenitude; the eager ones have spread wide the woolen filter—opening the way for the clarified delight.
Mantra 7
वाश्रा अर्षन्तीन्दवोऽभि वत्सं न धेनवः । दधन्विरे गभस्त्योः ॥
The bright Soma drops stream, like lowing cows toward the calf; they settle and uphold themselves in the two hands—finding a firm hold in the grasp of the offering and the seeker.
Mantra 8
जुष्ट इन्द्राय मत्सरः पवमान कनिक्रदत् । विश्वा अप द्विषो जहि ॥
Accepted by Indra, the rousing Soma—O Pavamāna—cries out in its exhilaration; strike away all the hatreds, all the hostile movements that resist the growth of light within us.
Mantra 9
अपघ्नन्तो अराव्णः पवमानाः स्वर्दृशः । योनावृतस्य सीदत ॥
Purifying themselves, smiting the hostile and crooked powers, the Soma-currents that behold the Sun-world take their seat in the womb of Ṛta (the Truth-Order).
