Sukta 87

Mantra 1

द्युम्नी वां स्तोमो अश्विना क्रिविर्न सेक आ गतम् । मध्वः सुतस्य स दिवि प्रियो नरा पातं गौराविवेरिणे ॥

Radiant is this hymn for you, O Aśvins; like a swift sprinkling it calls you—come. Of the pressed sweetness (Soma) that is dear in heaven, O two heroes, drink—like two bright ones moving on the open field.

Mantra 2

पिबतं घर्मं मधुमन्तमश्विना बर्हिः सीदतं नरा । ता मन्दसाना मनुषो दुरोण आ नि पातं वेदसा वयः ॥

Drink the warm draught, honeyed with delight, O Aśvins; sit upon the sacred seat, O two heroes. Rejoicing, come to the human dwelling and bring down (into us) the powers of plenitude by your true knowing.

Mantra 3

आ वां विश्वाभिरूतिभिः प्रियमेधा अहूषत । ता वर्तिर्यातमुप वृक्तबर्हिषो जुष्टं यज्ञं दिविष्टिषु ॥

With all your helps the Priyamedhas have called you. Come then by your path to the sacrifice of the spread seat, to the well-accepted offering in the striving for heaven-light.

Mantra 4

पिबतं सोमं मधुमन्तमश्विना बर्हिः सीदतं सुमत् । ता वावृधाना उप सुष्टुतिं दिवो गन्तं गौराविवेरिणम् ॥

Drink the Soma, honeyed with delight, O Aśvins; sit on the sacred seat with right-mindedness. You who grow by our offering, come near to the good praise from heaven—like two bright ones on the open field.

Mantra 5

आ नूनं यातमश्विनाश्वेभिः प्रुषितप्सुभिः । दस्रा हिरण्यवर्तनी शुभस्पती पातं सोममृतावृधा ॥

Come now, O Aśvins, with your horses that are swift and fire-splendid. O wonder-workers with golden paths, lords of beauty, drink the Soma—you who increase the Ṛta within us.

Mantra 6

वयं हि वां हवामहे विपन्यवो विप्रासो वाजसातये । ता वल्गू दस्रा पुरुदंससा धियाश्विना श्रुष्ट्या गतम् ॥

For we call you, we the seekers of inspired utterance, we the seers, for the winning of plenitude of force. O gracious wonder-workers of many powers, O Aśvins, come by our thought and by your hearing response.
