Sukta 28

Mantra 1

अग्ने जुषस्व नो हविः पुरोळाशं जातवेदः । प्रातःसावे धियावसो ॥

O Agni, accept our offering, the well-prepared cake of consecration, O Knower of births. In the morning pressing, awaken and increase our inspired thought so it can carry us.

Mantra 2

पुरोळा अग्ने पचतस्तुभ्यं वा घा परिष्कृतः । तं जुषस्व यविष्ठ्य ॥

The sacrificial cakes are being cooked for you, O Agni, and are indeed made ready and perfected. Accept that offering, O youngest (ever-new) power.

Mantra 3

अग्ने वीहि पुरोळाशमाहुतं तिरोअह्न्यम् । सहसः सूनुरस्यध्वरे हितः ॥

O Agni, come and partake of the offered cake, the oblation set beyond the common day. You are the Son of Force, placed in the sacrifice as its secret support.

Mantra 4

माध्यंदिने सवने जातवेदः पुरोळाशमिह कवे जुषस्व । अग्ने यह्वस्य तव भागधेयं न प्र मिनन्ति विदथेषु धीराः ॥

At the midday pressing, O Jātavedas, accept here, O Seer-Fire, the formed offering. O Agni, your rightful share in the mighty movement is not diminished by the steadfast wise in their gatherings of knowledge.

Mantra 5

अग्ने तृतीये सवने हि कानिषः पुरोळाशं सहसः सूनवाहुतम् । अथा देवेष्वध्वरं विपन्यया धा रत्नवन्तममृतेषु जागृविम् ॥

O Agni, at the third pressing you indeed accept the offered cake, O son of Force. Then, by your luminous delight, establish the sacrifice among the gods—rich in plenitude and awake among the immortals.

Mantra 6

अग्ने वृधान आहुतिं पुरोळाशं जातवेदः । जुषस्व तिरोअह्न्यम् ॥

O Agni, growing in power, O Jātavedas, accept the offered oblation, the formed cake—this offering that carries us beyond the common day into the sacred wideness.
