Sukta 21

Mantra 1

विश्वजिते धनजिते स्वर्जिते सत्राजिते नृजित उर्वराजिते । अश्वजिते गोजिते अब्जिते भरेन्द्राय सोमं यजताय हर्यतम् ॥

Bring the Soma to Indra—who conquers in all ways: conquers the plenitudes, conquers the luminous heaven, conquers constantly, conquers the powers of man, conquers the wide fields of growth; who wins the steed-force, the ray-cattle of Light, and the waters of inspiration—bring it to the adorable, the one who is to be gladdened.

Mantra 2

अभिभुवेऽभिभङ्गाय वन्वतेऽषाळ्हाय सहमानाय वेधसे । तुविग्रये वह्नये दुष्टरीतवे सत्रासाहे नम इन्द्राय वोचत ॥

Utter your homage to Indra: the overcomer who breaks the breakers, the assaulter who presses forward, the unconquered who bears the shock, the wise disposer; the mighty-voiced, the impelling bearer of the flame, hard to be outstripped, the ever-victorious.

Mantra 3

सत्रासाहो जनभक्षो जनंसहश्च्यवनो युध्मो अनु जोषमुक्षितः । वृतंचयः सहुरिर्विक्ष्वारित इन्द्रस्य वोचं प्र कृतानि वीर्या ॥

Ever-victorious, devourer of hostile multitudes, overpowerer of men, the mover, the fighter, he who grows by delight; he who piles up the right and smites, active among the clans—of Indra I proclaim the accomplished heroic powers.

Mantra 4

अनानुदो वृषभो दोधतो वधो गम्भीर ऋष्वो असमष्टकाव्यः । रध्रचोदः श्नथनो वीळितस्पृथुरिन्द्रः सुयज्ञ उषसः स्वर्जनत् ॥

Indra, who cannot be driven back, the bull; a deep and lofty power of smiting for the shaking adversary; unmatched in the inspired word; impelling the straight course, crushing resistance, wide and far-reaching—he brought forth the luminous world for the Dawns.

Mantra 5

यज्ञेन गातुमप्तुरो विविद्रिरे धियो हिन्वाना उशिजो मनीषिणः । अभिस्वरा निषदा गा अवस्यव इन्द्रे हिन्वाना द्रविणान्याशत ॥

By the sacrifice the apturas found the path; stirring their thoughts, the eager, the wise. With the cry toward the Light, sitting in the session, desiring help, they urged themselves in Indra and attained the plenitudes.

Mantra 6

इन्द्र श्रेष्ठानि द्रविणानि धेहि चित्तिं दक्षस्य सुभगत्वमस्मे । पोषं रयीणामरिष्टिं तनूनां स्वाद्मानं वाचः सुदिनत्वमह्नाम् ॥

Indra, place in us the best plenitudes: the right perception of skill, the happy fortune; increase of the rays of richness, the unhurt safety of our being; sweetness of speech and the fair brightness of our days.
