Sukta 184

Mantra 1

ता वामद्य तावपरं हुवेमोच्छन्त्यामुषसि वह्निरुक्थैः । नासत्या कुह चित्सन्तावर्यो दिवो नपाता सुदास्तराय ॥

You two—yes, you two—today we call again and yet again, at the dawning of the Uṣas, with the flaming bearer through our hymns. O Nāsatyas, wherever you are, sons of heaven, come for a richer giving that carries us across.

Mantra 2

अस्मे ऊ षु वृषणा मादयेथामुत्पणीँर्हतमूर्म्या मदन्ता । श्रुतं मे अच्छोक्तिभिर्मतीनामेष्टा नरा निचेतारा च कर्णैः ॥

In us, indeed, O strong ones, take your delight; striking down the hoarders, rejoice with the wave of force. Hear what is well-spoken by my thought-forms—O two heroes, fulfillers of the seeking—discern it with your ears that truly notice.

Mantra 3

श्रिये पूषन्निषुकृतेव देवा नासत्या वहतुं सूर्यायाः । वच्यन्ते वां ककुहा अप्सु जाता युगा जूर्णेव वरुणस्य भूरेः ॥

For the sake of fullness, O Pūṣan, like a craftsman of the arrow, O gods, O Nāsatyas—(you are spoken of) as the bearers of Sūryā. Your lofty forms, born in the waters, are proclaimed—yoked ages after ages, like the well-worn (order) of Varuṇa’s vastness.

Mantra 4

अस्मे सा वां माध्वी रातिरस्तु स्तोमं हिनोतं मान्यस्य कारोः । अनु यद्वां श्रवस्या सुदानू सुवीर्याय चर्षणयो मदन्ति ॥

In us let there be that honeyed gift of yours; urge forward the hymn of the worthy singer. For when your fame is followed, O bountiful ones, the peoples rejoice toward a greater heroic power.

Mantra 5

एष वां स्तोमो अश्विनावकारि मानेभिर्मघवाना सुवृक्ति । यातं वर्तिस्तनयाय त्मने चागस्त्ये नासत्या मदन्ता ॥

This hymn to you, O Aśvins, has been fashioned with measures, a well-turned utterance, O generous ones. Come to our turning-point for the child and for the self; and in Agastya’s offering, O Nāsatyas, take your delight.

Mantra 6

अतारिष्म तमसस्पारमस्य प्रति वां स्तोमो अश्विनावधायि । एह यातं पथिभिर्देवयानैर्विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

We have crossed beyond this darkness to its farther shore; in response, a hymn of affirmation is set in you, O Aśvins. Come here by the god-traveling paths, that we may find the impulsion of plenitude, the clearing of obstruction, and the swift-giving power.
