Mantra 1

शान्तिः। ये अग्नयो अप्स्व१न्तर्ये वृत्रे ये पुरुषे ये अश्मसु । य आविवेशोषधीर्यो वनस्पतींस्तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

Peace. The Fires that are within the waters, the Fires that are within Vṛtra, the Fires that are within man, the Fires that are within stones; he who hath entered the herbs, he who the forest-lords hath entered—to those Fires let this oblation be offered.

Mantra 2

यः सोमे अन्तर्यो गोष्वन्तर्य आविष्टो वयःसु यो मृगेषु । य आविवेश द्विपदो यश्चतुष्पदस्तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

He who is within Soma, who is within the cows, who hath entered the birds, who is in the wild creatures; he who hath entered the two-footed and who the four-footed—to those Fires let this oblation be offered.

Mantra 3

य इन्द्रेण सरथं याति देवो वैश्वानर उत विश्वदाव्यः । यं जोहवीमि पृतनासु सासहिं तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

He who with Indra rideth on one car, the god Vaiśvānara, yea, all-conquering; whom I invoke in battles as the overmastering victor—to those Fires let this oblation be offered.

Mantra 4

यो देवो विश्वाद् यमु काममाहुर्यं दातारं प्रतिगृह्णन्तमाहुः । यो धीरः शक्रः परिभूरदाभ्यस्तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

The god whom from every side they call ‘Desire,’ whom they call the Giver that receiveth in return; who is wise, mighty, an over-lord, unconquerable—to those Fires let this oblation be offered.

Mantra 5

यं त्वा होतारं मनसाभि संविदुस्त्रयोदश भौवनाः पञ्च मानवाः । वर्चोधसे यशसे सूनृतावते तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

Thee, whom as Hotar they have with the mind acknowledged—thirteen are the worlds, and five the races of men—for increase of splendour, for fame, for possession of gracious truth: to those Fires let this oblation be offered.

Mantra 6

उक्षान्नाय वशान्नाय सोमपृष्ठाय वेधसे । वैश्वानरज्येष्ठेभ्यस्तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

To him whose food is the bull, to him whose food is the vaśā, to Soma-backed Ordainer:—to those Fires whose chief is Vaiśvānara, to those Agnis, be this oblation offered, yea, let it be so.

दिवं पृथिवीमन्वन्तरिक्षं ये विद्युतमनुसंचरन्ति । ये दिक्ष्व१न्तर्ये वाते अन्तस्तेभ्यो अग्निभ्यो हुतमस्त्वेतत्

They who range through heaven and earth and mid-air, who move attendant on the lightning; who are within the quarters, who are within the wind—to those Agnis be this oblation offered; let it be so.

Mantra 8

हिरण्यपाणिं सवितारमिन्द्रं बृहस्पतिं वरुणं मित्रमग्निम्। विश्वान् देवानङ्गिरसो हवामह इमं क्रव्यादं शमयन्त्वग्निम्

Savitar of the golden hand, Indra, Bṛhaspati, Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni—yea, all the Gods, and the Angirases we invoke: let them make calm this flesh-devouring Agni.

Mantra 9

शान्तो अग्निः क्रव्याच्छान्तः पुरुषरेषणः । अथो यो विश्वदाव्य१स्तं क्रव्यादमशीशमम्

Calmed is Agni as touching the flesh-eater; calmed the man-seeker: yea, that which is all-devouring—this flesh-eater have I made wholly quiet.

Mantra 10

ये पर्वताः सोमपृष्ठा आप उत्तानशीवरीः । वातः पर्जन्य आदग्निस्ते क्रव्यादमशीशमन्

The Soma-backed mountains, the waters wide outspread, the Wind, Parjanya, and Agni—by these hath that flesh-eater been made quiet.
