यदत्रानन्तरं कार्य प्राप्तकालं च पश्यसि । कर्णस्य वधसंयुक्तं तत्‌ कुरुष्व धनंजय,“धनंजय! अब यहाँ कर्णके वधके सम्बन्धमें तुम्हें जो समयोचित कर्तव्य दिखायी देता हो, उसे करो”

sañjaya uvāca |

yad atrānantaraṃ kāryaṃ prāptakālaṃ ca paśyasi |

karṇasya vadhasaṃyuktaṃ tat kuruṣva dhanaṃjaya ||

Sañjaya sprach: „O Dhananjaya (Arjuna), welche unmittelbare Pflicht du hier als zeitgemäß und notwendig erkennst—vor allem das, was mit der Tötung Karṇas verbunden ist—vollbringe sie jetzt.“
