The Stolen Sacrificial Horse of Sagara
तस्याश्वचर्यां काकुत्स्थ दृढधन्वा महारथ:।अंशुमानकरोत्तात सगरस्य मते स्थित:।।1.39.6।।
tasyāśvacaryāṁ kākutstha dṛḍhadhanvā mahārathaḥ |
aṁśumān akarot tāta sagarasya mate sthitaḥ || 1.39.6 ||
হে কাকুৎস্থ, প্রিয় তাত! দৃঢ়ধনু মহারথী অংশুমান সগরের আদেশে স্থিত থেকে সেই যজ্ঞাশ্বের রক্ষা ও অনুসরণ করলেন।
With highly agitated minds and meloncholic faces, all of them approached magnanimous Brahma and having propitiated him said:
Dharma as duty and loyalty: Aṁśumān fulfills the king’s directive to protect the yajña, placing responsibility above personal ease.
Sagara assigns Aṁśumān to accompany and safeguard the sacrificial horse as part of the ritual’s successful completion.
Steadfast obedience and readiness (vīrya): Aṁśumān acts promptly and remains aligned with Sagara’s intent.
