Sukta 81

Bài tụng ngắn thuộc Atharvaveda này là một bùa chú garbhādhāna (thụ thai) và putrakāmyā (cầu con), nhằm thiết lập và bảo hộ tử cung để một phôi thai khả dĩ có thể được đặt vào và được mang đến đủ tháng. Bài tụng khẩn thỉnh năng lực hộ vệ, thiết lập ranh giới (parihasta) để xua đuổi rakṣas (các thực thể/ảnh hưởng gây hại), đồng thời bảo đảm con nối dõi và sự thịnh vượng của gia thất.

Mantra 1

गर्भाधानम्। य॒न्तासि॒ यच्छ॑से॒ हस्ता॒वप॒ रक्षां॑सि सेधसि । प्र॒जां धनं॑ च गृह्णा॒नः प॑रिह॒स्तो अ॑भूद॒यम्

(Nghi thức an đặt thai.) Ngươi là kẻ dẫn dắt, khiến cho thuận phục; bằng đôi tay, ngươi xua đuổi các loài quỷ chướng ngại sự hộ trì. Đang nắm lấy con cái và của cải, Parihasta (Bàn Tay Hộ Trì) này đã thành tựu.

परि॑हस्त॒ वि धा॑रय॒ योनिं॒ गर्भा॑य॒ धात॑वे । मर्या॑दे पु॒त्रमा धे॑हि॒ तं त्वमा ग॑मयागमे

Hỡi Parihasta, hãy bao bọc và nâng đỡ yoni (ครรภ์) để đặt thai. Đúng thời đúng mực, hãy đặt một con trai vào đây; xin ngươi khiến nó đến với ngươi, hết lần này đến lần khác.

यं प॑रिह॒स्तमबि॑भ॒रदि॑तिः पुत्रका॒म्या। त्वष्टा॒ तम॑स्या॒ आ ब॑ध्ना॒द् यथा॑ पु॒त्रं जना॒दिति॑

Aditi, vì ước nguyện cầu con, đã ôm giữ Parihasta này; Tvaṣṭṛ đã buộc kết nó cho nàng, để nàng sinh ra một con trai.
