It focuses on Agnicayana preparations—establishing and activating Agni for the fire-altar sequence—along with extensive protective and purificatory formulas that secure the rite from disruption and defilement.
Because the altar-building and fire-establishment are treated as a vulnerable liminal phase; the mantras explicitly ward Rakṣas, hostility, theft, slander, and even minute impurities so the sacrifice proceeds in uncontaminated order (ṛta).
Ukhya Agni is the sacrificial fire maintained in a pot during the Agnicayana process; it represents a controlled, portable continuity of Agni while the altar and fire-setting are being prepared and stabilized.
