Atharva Veda 9.2.12 — Kanda 9, Anuvaka 1, Sukta 2, Mantra 12

Sukta 2

तेऽध॒राञ्चः॒ प्र प्ल॑वन्तां छि॒न्ना नौरि॑व॒ बन्ध॑नात्। न साय॑कप्रणुत्तानां॒ पुन॑रस्ति नि॒वर्त॑नम्

té ’dharā́ñcaḥ prá plavantāṃ chinnā́ naúr iva bándhanāt | ná sā́yaka-praṇuttānāṃ púnar asti nivártanam ||

Downward let them drift away, like a boat cut loose from its mooring. For those whom the missile hath driven forth, there is no turning back again.

അവർ അധോമുഖമായി ഒഴുകി അകന്നുപോകട്ടെ, കെട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് മുറിഞ്ഞുപോയ വള്ളംപോലെ. അസ്ത്രം തള്ളിപ്പുറത്താക്കിയവർക്കു വീണ്ടും മടങ്ങിവരൽ ഇല്ല.
