Lord of the gods, venerable Siva went away to his abode leaving behind the devatas. O Descendant of Raghu! then all the devatas and asuras resumed churning.
When one’s own strength fails, dharma is to seek rightful support, not to persist in arrogance—appeal to the sustaining principle that upholds the work.
The mountain used for churning sinks; the gods and gandharvas respond by praising Viṣṇu for help.
Prudent reliance: turning to the proper guardian (Viṣṇu) when the task becomes impossible alone.
