The Manifest Sacred Landscape of Mathurā: Merits of Vatsakrīḍanaka, Bhāṇḍīraka, Vṛndāvana, Keśītīrtha, and the Sūrya-Tīrthas
Varāha (default framework; speaker not explicit in this fragment, but continues from 156.1 context)
It is characteristic of tīrtha-māhātmya passages that promote sacred sites through concise claims about ritual efficacy and post-mortem or supra-mundane outcomes.
The verse continues the tīrtha context introduced in Adhyāya 156 regarding Mathurā and the Vatsakrīḍanaka tīrtha.
The emphasis is on ritual practice (snāna/bathing) as a culturally sanctioned act linked to cosmological results, rather than a general ethical maxim.
