होतारं त्वा वृणीमहेऽग्ने दक्षस्य साधनम् । यज्ञेषु पूर्व्यं गिरा प्रयस्वन्तो हवामहे ॥

hótāraṁ tvā vṛṇīmahé’gne dákṣasya sā́dhanam | yajñéṣu pū́rvyaṁ girā́ práyasvanto havāmahe ||

Kami memilih Engkau, wahai Agni, sebagai Hotar—imam batin yang mengangkat persembahan—pelaksana dakṣa, daya membeda dan kemahiran yang benar. Dalam yajña-yajña, Engkau Yang Purba, kami memanggil-Mu dengan sabda; kami yang penuh bara semangat dan upaya yang tepat.
